Dear Dana; I am in
receipt of the proposed rule changes being considered by the Board of Directors
during their July 18th Board Meeting. I’m very concerned
about some of the proposed changes / restrictions and would like to submit the
following comments for consideration. Could you please present the following to
the Board.
1. General Landscape Guidelines: First, I
purchased my sideyard home in 2004 and relandscaped the interior by adding
along with other plants, four queen palms and a lemon tree to the already
existing trees (Pala Verde and MCC Date Palms). These trees were already
inherent to the property when purchased. All of the trees exceed the wall
height so the proposed change is confusing, which led me to reread Paragraph
3:e page 45. It is apparent to me that the proposed rule change is
addressing “plant material” aka. shrubs and or plants, NOT TREES.
If
in fact, the board is proposing the removal of the trees, this would be very
costly and clearly hurt the ambiance of mine and other owner’s sideyards,
courtyards and the community in whole, not to mention the value of
our properties. Monterey Country Club is known for its “Mature Tree
Environment”, so I AM TOTALLY OPPOSED TO ANY RULE CHANGES THAT APPLY TO
TREE REMOVAL and ask that NO changes be made to Paragraph 3e; Page
45. This paragraph does not need to be changed!!
2. Allowable Furniture Styles / Colors /
Finishes: I’m not sure who came-up with the limited color pallet for the patio
furniture frame. My existing front patio furniture frame is a subdued
charcoal / black, in color, which is probably the most common manufactured
frame color. This color appears to be very close in color to the window frames
and or screen door. I have owned this furniture from the beginning (have never
received a complaint), and it would be very costly to replace. I ask that a
common color like black be added to the approved color listing. Black is not an
obtrusive color!! I would also suggest adding more color choices to the
selection scheme for other members to choose from. The Color choices
are way too restrictive!!
3. Golf Course / Golf Cart Paths: I can
understand the restrictions against using the Golf Cart Paths for
skateboarding, bicycling or scooters, but I cannot understand the restriction
against walking. I am sure the membership understands the risk of walking or
jogging during normal golfing time (we are adults and do exhibit common sense),
but at the end of the day it is just nice to walk the course on the golf paths
and enjoy the views, the trees and your neighbors. Once again,
WHY do you want to restrict the use and enjoyment of the
country club. This is why we choose to be owners at Monterey Country
Club.
4. Rule Change Timing: Finally, I ask WHY is
the Board submitting these rule changes during the summer months when the major majority
of the ownership is not in residence. When you want to make changes that
requires input from the membership, then it would make more since to work with
the membership during a time when the majority is present. Please represent the
membership as all of you pledged to do in your electoral
declarations. Let’s not make policy changes when the membership is not
present!! May I suggest the 1st quarter.
Thank you for your time.
